Yeah, come to think of it, I haven't heard ANY news about the map editor in FC3...They are still having it right?
@shepherd 214
I know exactly what the previous far cry games offer. One of my favorite games is the original Crysis, so I know at least a bit on how the sandbox-style experience plays out. However, it just seems like they want FC3 to be a more cinematic, streamlined and linear experience, at least from what I've seen of the game so far. In terms of "openness" and options presented to the player, it looks a lot like Crysis 2. And Crysis 2 was a great departure fr...
well, it depends. If it means progressing a story, I'm okay with it, but I don't like to see CG when a developer wants to advertise it's gameplay. Starcraft II for example, used CG in it's cutscenes, (and is actually some of the best CG I've seen in a game) but that's because it's real-time graphics engine isn't adequate enough to really progress the story, because it's an RTS.
I don't know whats up with the disagrees you're getting. The first game was leagues better than the second.
A good review and a fair score, though I only have one issue with what was said...:
"Back then, fighting games weren't so big, but now they are all the rage and the fighting game community is bigger than ever."
The fighting game community is the SMALLEST it's ever been. Sales for 2d and 3d fighters across the board are nothing like they were during the PS2 days. The near-death arcade scene essentially everywhere outside of Japan is a testame...
Ok...why don't they just develop it separately for all platforms so they all look their best?
"No nomination for Far Cry 3 for best overall game? And Tomb Raider for best overall game?"
I wouldn't have nominated those games either honestly.
definitely. Developers would rather meet a deadline than spend more time on polishing their products. And they've certainly been abusing their ability to add patches and DLC post-release. It's gone from patches to enable or fix issues "day-one" (which could certainly be avoided with proper testing) to charging for locked content on the disc...at least in the worst cases.
Good stuff. I wonder if the trailers we saw were rendered on PC or console specs? The game already looks great on console.
These characters will ALL be free at a date shortly after release. There's really no incentive in preordering, and it's really kinda stupid on Namco's part. At least be thankful you're not paying more than $60 for a full game.
Great review. Is it out on PC yet?
I wouldn't say Diablo III is half assed, but it's pretty clear that it's not finished. One would be naive to think Blizzard doesn't have major patches and even expansions planned for D3.
"you forgot SC5"
well okay, but it stands by far as the worst in the series and is a major step backwards from SC4.
This is looking like the busiest year for 3D fighters. We got VF5:FS coming in two weeks, then Tekken Tag and DOA5 in septemeber...
Congrats to Kaz and team GT Academy!
out of TEN soon to be revealed? I think that means we're getting back the characters that were knocked from previous games... and then some.
"Just goes to show Blizzards change in ways and complete disregard for what diablo is suppose to be."
Please enlighten me on what Diablo is "supposed to be," because you clearly have more insight into the game than the creators themselves. If you don't like the game, then don't play it. I personally just finished Act III today with my buddies and have been having a blast since.
...both
:)
splitscreen, unlocking secret stages/costumes etc. (as opposed to paying for them as 'DLC') and many of the things you mentioned in this article. I wouldn't say you're the "grumpy old man" but as someone who's also been gaming since the early 90's, you can definitely see the downward trend of the quality of games; in this generation particularly.
I'm sorry to say, but after mainstream successes like Call of Duty and Gears of War, Developers ...
I did the same, switched over to UC2's multiplayer as it was a cakewalk for MGO vets. But I still had a soft spot for MGO after all these years, I don't think I've had as much fun in a multiplayer game since.
